We are a congregation of The United Church of Canada,
Weaving a Faith that Matters… may the Spirit stir us on!
We acknowledge with gratitude that we live and gather on the unceded and ancestral lands of the q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), Máthxwi (Matsqui), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), and Se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) peoples. We honour their faithful stewardship of the land and seek to walk in the Spirit of reconciliation.
Today we hear the story of the Transfiguration: a time when Jesus shines with the holy light of mystery. On a mountain top, we are given a glimpse of what is to come. Enveloped in a cloud, it is tempting for the disciples who are with Jesus, to remain there. But they must return to ordinary life.
Put together with the story of Moses receiving the commandments of the law, we are encouraged to ask: When have we glimpsed the mystery beyond? What needs to be preserved of our traditions? How does God meet us at the bottom of the mountain, and how are we prepared for our Lenten journey?
